The painting was inspired by a lady’s desire to bring the warm colours of autumn into her home. The subject comes from one of my walks through the autumn Tatras towards Velické Mountain Lake. It captures the golden hour after sunrise, when the sharp rays of sunlight meet the vibrant colours of autumn and bathe the entire landscape in soft light. The quite path beneath Gerlach Peak, together with the first warmth of the day, creates a sense of tranquillity and a desire to stay in this place just a little longer.
