Mountain Fox

I was inspired to create this painting by my hikes in the High Tatras, during which I repeatedly encountered a fox known among Tatra lovers as Eliška. She was often seen around Rainer’s Hut and Zamkovský’s Hut and gradually lost her natural fear of people, becoming well known among hikers. Later, her cubs also began appearing in the area and attracted similar attention from visitors to the Tatras.

I created the composition by combining two separate images – I captured the mountain scenery in the background during one of my winter hikes and incorporated Eliška from another image. By bringing the two together, I wanted to portray her as a natural part of the Tatra landscape, which still brings back memories of my encounters with this unusually trusting fox and her cubs.
